This year has been absolutely amazing so far!
I started the year with my calendar free until the end of March, and January gave me lots of time to get on with the annual website revamp, and of course plenty of Molly walks. And then I got busy - it's been incredible to receive so many last minute enquiries and I really love being able to fit things in. I ended up with 4 extra wee weddings, a Ruby Wedding party shoot, and a very special family shoot in a local Castle, all before the end of March.
I've gradually recovered from the trauma of my one and only computer failing catastrophically after my first wedding of the year! I decided to make the leap and switch to Apple which created a few weeks of being very close to tears every time I tried to do anything on my new MacBook Pro. I thought I'd be able to stop dyeing my hair white! Glad to say it's all good now and I'm absolutely loving how much better everything looks and runs. I've invested in a Big Mac too, so I'll never be left without a working computer again. I should have done all this years ago.
But the really big thing I did in March was attend my first Wedding Photographers Conference. I'd been both excited and scared about this since I booked it last year. Even planning what to wear months in advance. Ridiculous :) Two days in the centre of Edinburgh in a trendy hotel mixing with 150 wedding photographers from all over the world, listening to talks by many of the world's top photographers, even socialising with them. I'd booked to do a street photo shoot with the amazing Mexican photographer Camilla Urrea and opted to shoot with my wee Fuji (x100v), knowing full well that everyone else would be armed with big DSLR's and huge zoom lenses, and I was right. But lots of them envied my wee Fuji!! Camilla even wanted me to sell it to her. And as always it produced fabulous results, a few of which you can see here.
I also participated in the conference 'Show & Tell' session on the first evening, standing up on the stage and telling everyone the story of my chosen image, which was being projected all round the room's four walls. I got great feedback and what a buzz!!!
That time when Banjo Beale's Kath & Kim ate the brides wildflower bouquet.

The conference was 'Thrive', and I loved it so much I'm already booked into the next one in Brighton this October.
THRIVE - To thrive means to grow vigorously, prosper, flourish, and develop successfully, often implying high energy or overcoming challenges. It goes beyond merely surviving, encompassing physical health, emotional well-being, and professional or personal success. Thriving involves fulfilling one's potential and operating at a high level.
Absolutely the right name for this conference - and our motto - 'Feel the fear, and do it anyway'.
It's so good to push ourselves out of our comfort zone.
Now I'm ready for anything this year's weddings throw at me :))
